Important projects,Institutions

Infosys in Ghatkesar, Shantha Biotech Pvt. Ltd in Shameerpet and other industries are located in the constituency. Medchal has no irrigation projects.

Ongoing Programmes

To provide drinking water facility to more than 104 villages in the district, Mission Bhagiratha project works of Rs. 294 crores have been started in December 2015. Since then the government has released funds for the construction of 360 km of internal pipelines and optical cable works. Medchal is the first in the state to get the benefits of the project. Around 10,826 industries have been established using Rs 17,778 crore funds of TS-iPASS. Roads and bridges are also constructed with Rs. 140 crore funds. Many other developing works are happening in the constituency. Restoration works of Musi river are still in progress and the ruling party is not taking any further actions to finish the works. Public is protesting the government to shift the dumping yard to another place. Besides, the locals are facing problems with the sound and dust pollution causing by stone crushers.

Pending issues

Dumping yard located in Jawaharnagar in the constituency became a problem to the locals. Dumping all the city's garbage in this yard made the Medchal, Malkajgiri and Uppal residents face many health hazards. Moreover, animal carcasses in the dumping yard also filling the surroundings with odour and also leading to lot of air pollution.

Important places

Sri Ramalingeswara temple in Keesaragutta was constructed during Vishnukundina dynasty. Akkanna and Madanna built the Lord Rama temple on this hillock. People from many places visit this temple during Maha Sivaratri Brahmotsav. Ratnalayam in Shameerpet is also another renowned temple in the consituency. Deer park, ecotourism, state sports school and airport in Hakimpet and other government organisations are located in Medchal. Leonia, Alankrita, Celebrity and other famous resorts are situated in this constituency.

Interesting Points

After the delimitation of Medchal, five new constituencies - Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Malkajgiri, Uppal and Serilingampally - were formed. The population has been increasing in Medchal as it is located near to the city. Thumkunta, Nagaram, Dammaiguda, Ghatkesar, Pocharam and Gundlapochampalli municipalities are formed along with 13 village panchayats.
