Pending issues

Administration of the cantonment in a strict manner has led to resentment among the civilians. Several projects have been put on hold due to lack of progress on the part of the Central government. The transfer of land titles has been a major bone of contention because of which the poor residing in areas like Nandamuri nagar, Mudfort, Chinnakamela, Peddakamela are in a state of constant fear.
They are extremely worried that the officials may demolish their dwellings anytime. Similary the establishment of 5 substations which were sanctioned way back during YSR regime, have also been temporarily suspended for the want of land. Drinking water woes are another source of discontent among locals. They complain that water is being released once every five days which is no where near meeting their water requirements.
Cantonment hospital which has commenced operation in bollaram but not all of the expected facilities are available. Though GST has come into effect the contonment is still taxing the entry of commercial vehicles, as it is seen as major source of revenure to fill its coffers. There is equitable distribution of health services to all the members of contonment as not all wards have dispensaries troubling mainly the lower and middle class people. Other civic amenities like hygiene surroundings, proper drainage system also lie in neglected state adding to woes of the people in Basthis and surrounding colonies.

Interesting Points

The contonment is a mixed landscape of both colonies with all the necessary civic amenities and 'basthis'. Areas like Bowenpally, Mahendrahills comprises mainly of colonies whereas 'basthis' are mostly seen in Rasoolpura, Trimulgherry. one can find equal proportion of colonies and basthis in areas like Karkhana, Picket etc. Eight wards in secunderabad come under contonment board in addition to rezimental bazaar and shivajinagar.
