Political Background >
After graduating in Law, Mrs. Padma Devender Reddy began her career as Advocate in Medak district court and also registered in High Court. During separate Telangana movement, she along with her husband took active role and mobilized all the advocates to stood up for the cause. She entered political arena by contesting as ZPTC during 2001 and won as Ramayampeta ZPTC. She also became TRS floor leader in Medak Zilla Parishat.
She won Ramayampet Assembly seat by defeating M. Vani from TDP. She served as member of privileges committee and also member of Women and Child Welfare committee. She was given the opportunity to work as TRS party whip between 2004-2008. However, in 2009 elections, she was confident of getting ticket, but as part of alliance and seat sharing with TDP, the TRS leadership rejected ticket. She decided to contest as rebel candidate, for which she was suspended from party by party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
However, she was back into party within few months and started working in different capacities in the party. Impressed with her hardworking and managerial skills, TRS leadership again offered ticket in the year 2014 from Medak constituency in which she defeated actress turned politician M. Vijayashanthi. Then she was picked up for important post in Assembly as Deputy Speaker. She contested from Medak constituency in the 2018 Assembly elections on TRS party ticket and won against the Congress candidate Upender Reddy with a margin of 49,687 votes.
Development activities: Mrs. Padma Devender has given priority to laying of roads, extensions and bridges in her constituency. Medak-Vadiyaram, Medak-Akkannapeta road extension works along with Medak main road extension works with Rs.102 crores and BT roads with Rs.145 crores were taken up. Pitlam, Gosamudram tanks are being developed as mini-tank bunds and Mission Bhagirath works were going on with Rs.130 crores in Narayankhed, Andol and Medak. Most importantly, the irrigation department is increasing the height of Ghanpur medium irrigation project with Rs.50 crores out of which lining works are being taken up with Rs.24.50 crores with the initiation of Mrs. Padma Devender and Minister T. Harishrao.
