Sanjay worked as the president of IAM and Rotary club. In 2014, he joined TRS and contested from Jagtial constituency and lost. He got inspired by Chokka Rao and his favourite leader is KCR. Dr. Sanjay Kumar defeated one of the top brass leaders of Congress, Jeeevan Reddy. Sanjay gave a tough competition to Jeevan Reddy and won with a majority of 61,185 votes.
