Chandulal started his political journey as Jaggannapet Sarpanch in 1981 joining TDP. He became MLA in 1985 and later worked as Minister. He became MP in 1996 and represented the Warangal constituency in Parliament for two consecutive years. He then joined TRS in 2005. After the state bifurcation, Chandulal was offered a party ticket to contest from Mulugu in 2014 elections. He then won the assembly seat with a whopping majority and bagged a minister seat in chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's cabinet.
People in the constituency were unhappy with the government schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi for its delay and processing time in getting the amount. No measures have been taken up to prevent the illegal mining in the constituency. Agitations were still on to turn few regions as districts in his constituency.
