History

Formed in the year 2009 by delimitation act and was bifurcated from Asifabad constituency. During 2009 elections, CPI leader Gunda Mallesh clinched the victory over his rival Congress party's Chilumula Shankar. Whereas in 2014 election, CPI has alliance with Congress and CPI's candidate Gunda Mallesh contested from this constituency. However, TRS party candidate Durgam Chinnaiah has won with 52528 votes majority over his nearest rival candidate of CPI, Gunda Mallesh.

Important projects,Institutions

Bellampalli is well known for Singareni Coal mines. Tens of thousands of people are getting employed in it. Neelwai project is another major irrigation project of the district which aimed to supply water to thousands of ayacut.

Ongoing Programmes

A couple of development activities are being carried out in the constituency. Beautification works of Pochamma lake and construction of mango market at Tandur are under progress. Though knowledge centre was allotted to the constituency, the works have not started.

Pending issues

There is a demand to complete the works of Medical College in Bellampally which was a long dream of the people of the constituency. Need to interlink the roads in between 28 villages and recruit the medical staff for a recently upgraded hospital. No proper bus facility is available for many villages. There is long-standing demand to construct a bridge across the Bathukamma Vagu in Vemanapalli and junior colleges for Nennela, Bhimini, Tandoor, Kannepalli, etc.

Important places

Bugga Raja Rajeshwari Swamy temple is the cynosure of the locale which grabs the attention of the visitors with its picturesque locale and spirituality. Singareni coal mines, Orient cement factory, Ceramic industries are added to the list.

Interesting Points

The development of the constituency mainly depends upon the progress of Singareni coal mines. Many agitations have taken place in the region for drinking water from the river Godavari and also against the open cast project of Singareni coal mines. Singareni authorities are planning to utilise the advanced technologies to extract the Methane gas, without affecting the town. There is a plan to issue registered land to the Singareni workers.
